Collection: Eduard Matevosyan

Eduard Matevosyan graduated from the Sculpture Department of Yerevan Arts College after Terlemezyan and began his career as a sculptor. His early success included exhibiting two sculptures in 1966 at a show organized by Avangard, a leading newspaper of the time. Though he started with sculpture, painting soon became his main focus. He later earned a second degree from the Art Department of the Pedagogical Institute after Khachatur Abovyan. His work caught the attention of the renowned artist Ervand Kochar, who offered only praise for his talent. Matevosyan went on to exhibit widely in Armenia and abroad, including the United States, France, and Germany. His parents were natives of Kars (Western Armenia), a heritage that deeply shapes his art. His work often carries a nostalgic, emotional tone, depicting the villages of Western Armenia and the narrow streets of old Yerevan. Soft lighting and still skies give his landscapes a sense of calm and stability. Known for his exceptional feel for texture, Matevosyan renders stone walls, clay rooftops, andwinter scenes with striking warmth and subtlety. His limited color palettes and fresh perspective bring new life to traditional landscape
