Margaret Asatrian

  • Margaret Asatrian is a visual artist from Armenia, born in Yerevan in 1994 into a creative family as the daughter of a painter. She began painting

at a young age and went on to study at the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts from 2012 to 2016, earning a Bachelor's Degree with honors in

painting. After completing her studies, Margaret devoted herself fully to her artistic practice, exploring various mediums and techniques. She

produced numerous sketches and small mixed-media compositions using pastels, gouache, and ink, which later served as the foundation for her

large-scale oil paintings. Initially, her work focused on figurative compositions, including portraits, landscapes, and linear studies from nature.

Since 2016, Margaret has gravitated toward abstraction, believing it best expresses her inner world. Her abstract works combine soft, transparent

tones with vibrant colors to create rhythmic contrasts and visual vibrations. By layering liquid paint, she produces a subtle, veiled effect, aiming

to convey the unseen and retained emotions of humanity. Margaret’s work has attracted attention from collectors and art connoisseurs

worldwide. Her paintings are on permanent display at Gallery Milmar International in New York and Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, and she is

also represented by Gala Art Gallery in Yerevan. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Armenia and internationally. In 2021, her

painting Reflections was featured at the 5th London Art Biennale and later donated to the Museum of Alex and Marie Manoogian in Michigan,

home to the largest collection of Armenian art in North America. That same year, two of her works were exhibited at the International

Contemporary Paris Art Fair. In 2023, twelve of her pieces were showcased at the Strobia Foundation Launch Event in Glendale, California. Her

work has also been published in 65 Degree Magazine (Winter Issue, 2022) and she was selected as one of five finalists for Art Market

Magazine’s 91st edition. Margaret has been a member of the Artists’ Union of Armenia since 2017 and continues to live and work in Yerevan,

with her artworks held in galleries and private collections across Europe, the USA, and Armenia.

Training: From 2012 to 2016, Margaret attended the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, earning a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in

    painting.
